A collection of ten booklets on the problematic of the images of suffering of others. 
The project inside out intended to create a space that may stimulate a reader/viewer into questioning visual images portraying suffering of others, without interference in anticipations/impositions of meanings and effects. Inside out denotes dualities that are based on the problematics highlighted in the research.These dualities are moral ambiguities regarding ethics and aesthetics in regarding and producing, using and make others see, visual images of suffering and pain of others; communication issues, the mutual understanding of something (as pain) only experienced as private; and culture and social norms towards the image.
 
Format 95 x 135 mm, technique Risograph (b&w and yellow) by/with Stencilwerkplaats Knust, typeface Joanna MT Std;  paper Munk Pure (90 gr); Pages 228; binding sewed (booklets i-viii & x) + sewed and cold glued (booklet ix) by Handboekbinderij Geertsen, edition 5 copies with box + 10 copies without box, year 2013.
Booklets one (8 pp.) and two (20 pp.). 
Booklet one contains the index of all booklets presenting the 10 booklets as one, in addition to the colophon and thank you notes. Booklet two introduces the project, explains the thesis concept, communication questions, terminologies, audience and social value.
Three (24 pp.) and four (24 pp.). 
Booklet three deals with culture and the image in the modern way of seeing. It contains an essay «the image as an artifact of modern culture». Booklet three deals with ethics and aesthetics, it contains an essay entitled «documenting pain, moral ambiguities».
Five (8 pp.) and six (8 pp.).
Booklet five deals with communication of pain, entitled «inscapes», deals with private language. Booklet six provides a summary of the previous research and a strategy for the development of the project.
Seven (28 pp.) and eight (16 pp.).
Booklets seven and eight are extensions of the strategy booklet (six), it presents the strategy in use (visually), one (seven) recorring to one image, the other (eight) to a text on the subject of the image.
 
Nine (80 pp.) and ten (12 pp.).
Booklet nine reunites the process of the project. Booklet ten presents the resources used.
